rediscovering the web

you know? i’m making websites since 1998. i thought, not that i follow all the new technologies, because new ones appear all the time, rather that i know everything about the main ones, like html, css. not necessary that i can code or program in them easily, but i know about them and how do they work and how should be used.

Now, today (it may have started friday), i was completly shocked by the ussage of css - cascading style sheets. it’s an amazing tool. it gives new abbilities and saves a lot of time. and css is there probably like 10 years. i know it for a long time, my understanding of it was wrong.

As, we are still on a technical issues want to share with you another thought. switch to firefox. it’s not politics. i’m trying not to go into such things. today there is no question that the above mentioned browser is better. around 5 years ago there was netscape (netscape navigator) and IE, interned exploder (some call it explorer). netscape

Hi Max, let me not agree with you concerning the Netscape “superiority” over IE.
I used to have Netscape, and after a while, it started to get into trouble. I had to restart my computer very regularly, whereas I had much less such problems with IE, which seemed more stable. Overall, I rember it was kind of faster than IE.
Nonetheless, I definitely agree with you that FIrefox is today the best software. Overall, I think Open source software is far superior due to the way it is being developped.
Additinonally; I feel very uneasy about the big brother role Microsoft is currently taking on unashamedly, by collecting all sorts of data on you. The latest exampl I can think of is that for new Microsoft products, you have to register online or your software will no longer work. I find it perfectly scandalous, and will switch over to Linux as soon as it becomes a practical alternative.
Not to mention the countless security failures of IE….
